We have now completely organized our bathrooms right? I know mine is looking so much better now and I feel so much better without all the clutter. Purging can be such a wonderful thing!

Today’s Task

The Linen Closet. I constantly ask myself how such a tiny little closet can get so full and so messy. I am embarrassed to admit it, but there have been times when I’ve had to shove sheets or towels in and quickly close the door so everything doesn’t fall out. Yes, my linen closet was in BAD need of some organizing.

Go grab your boxes and go ahead and throw everything into the “Keep” Box for now. It’s kind of exhilarating looking at an empty linen closet, until that is, when you look down at the box which is now overflowing on the floor. Or you may have several full boxes. Use a laundry hamper for overfill so that you keep your donate, trash and sell boxes empty.

Designate one shelf for all the sheets, one for all the towels, and one for other linens such as tablecloths and napkins. Any additional shelves can be used for whatever else you need to store in there. In mine I have small plastic bins that I got from the dollar store. One has extra batteries and one has extra bandaids. We also keep our first aid kit in our linen closest – it gets hung from a hook on the inside of the door. (It’s just one of those over the door hooks from the dollar store, works great!)

Go through all your sheets and towels and if you have too many, figure out what you don’t need anymore and throw it into the donate box. Or if you are like us and have a thousand animals (ok we don’t have a thousand), older towels can be designated as animal towels.

Do the same with tablecloths, etc. Is it too dated? When was the last time you used it, 1992? Toss it!

If you have a lot of little items, store similar items in plastic bins and label the front of them. You can get some nice shoebox sized clear boxes at the dollar store and they stack really nicely.

Anything else that is thrown in there that doesn’t belong in the linen closet should now be sitting in your “keep” box still. Anything you still want to keep, find it a proper place in your home.

Now stand back and admire your hard work – doesn’t your linen closet look fantastic? The hardest part for me is keeping it that way 🙂
