May Day Baskets

May Day will be here in 3 weeks and it is time to start thinking about putting together some cute May Day Baskets!  Many people don’t know the history of May Day, so before I begin showing you some truly inspiring May Day Baskets, let’s go over what May Day is.  According to Wikipedia: ‘May Day marks the end of the unfarmable winter half of the year in the Northern hemisphere, and it has traditionally been an occasion for popular and often raucous celebrations.” – – I think this states it best, it is the celebration of the beginning of the growing season, thus why May Day Baskets are full of beautiful flowers!

If you and your children make May Day Baskets this year, please share your photos with us, as we would love to see them!

*note – traditional May Day Baskets are made out of paper cones… super easy and so much fun for you to do with your kids.  Why not start a new tradition this year, and make a bunch for the neighbors and early in the morning on May 1st, you and the kids hang the beautiful surprises on each of their doors?

  1. We used to make umbrellas. My Mom was the best at them. Me not so much LOL May need to try my hand at them again. We rolled newspaper for handles and used wrapping paper for the actual umbrella part and pinned this to the handle to form the pockets. They are adorable. Will post a pic if I get one to work
