My latest obsession is cloth diapers. Wow, can those things get addicting! I’ve done so much reading up on them and the various kinds so I started slowly buying some for our stash over a month ago. I think we’re just about set with all the diapers now (I’m so looking forward to not using disposables for so many reasons!) but now the question of wipes came up. Why not use cloth wipes instead of buying all those packages of wipes from the store? Another money saver and better for the earth! Win-win.

It’s so easy to make your own wipes, and you can make them even simpler than I did. I used 2 pieces of fabric sewn together so they are a bit thicker and double sided. You can even just cut up pieces of fleece or flannel and use those, you only have to get as fancy as you’d like. As far as wipe solution goes, there are tons of various all-natural recipes out there on the web, or you can just use water. Imagine that? I plan to make up a small batch of solution and have it in a spray bottle on the change table so I can just spray the wipe before using. I will also have a spray bottle of just water as well for the same purpose. I made all my wipes 8 x 8″, this is a great size as the wipes fit into a standard wipes container when they are folded in half.

What you need:

- Fabric (I used a mixture of flannel and fleece)

- Sewing machine (only if you want to sew more than 1 piece together or add fancy stitching)

- Scissors

- Rotary cutter & mat

- Pins

1. Start by cutting your fabric into squares, I cut all mine into 8 x 8 squares.

2. If double siding the wipes, pin together 2 squares with the right sides facing out.

3. Sew along all the edges, leaving about 1/4 inch seam along the edge.

4. Using pinking shears (I used scallop edged shears), trim all the edges

And that’s it! Super easy and look how cute they are! I made about 40 of them so far and I still have lots of fabric left over. I’m thinking about making some larger ones for using in the kitchen as dish rags.

Have fun! If you end up making some of these, please post some pics here so we can see them

Since I’m going to be having a summer baby, I cannot imagine myself wanting to sit in the house all day long. I’m going to want to be out walking on a nice day or going somewhere at least just to get away from the house at times. So with that being said, there are certain items that will make life a lot easier being on the go with a little one in tow!

Carriers: sure, it’s easy to pop a baby into a stroller, right? But I love the idea of a carrier and being able to go for long walks without having the bulk of lugging the stroller around. Check out this fabulous baby sling from lilpeeperkeepers. She’s got a ton of different ones in all colors – so stylish!

Now there are sometimes when it’s going to be necessary to take along a stroller, so let’s look at some accessories to make stroller life a little nicer:

A universal stroller caddy: fits right onto any stroller. Big enough to hold all the essentials you’ll need but not too big and bulky.

Grab this awesome one from Malama Baby here on etsy . She’s got a cool matching diaper & wipes clutch too!

Pacifier/ Snack bag: I love love love this! A reusable little bag that can be used to hold pacifiers or snacks while on the go!

This is the exact one I bought last week actually, I love the cute owl print! This is from TheClubHouse

Hello Homeketeers!

Are you ready for a tutorial today?

I’m going to share with you a tutorial on how to make one of my all time favorite flowers. I use this flower for all kinds of projects like scrapbooking, cardmaking, gift wrapping and even for some of my party decorations too. Below I’ll share a ”step by step” tutorial along with some examples on how to make this fun 3-dimensional flower. It’ll sure to make your crafting projects look “Scrap”tastic!

A fun corsette I created and used my

simple scrunch flower as the corsage for the dress.

Supplies you’ll need.

6 punched circles (1 1/2″ in size and it looks better if the paper double sided)

1 pencil

glue dots

your favorite distressing ink

Step 1: scrunch 5 of the 6 circles so they become

more pliable and aged looking. (the sixth circle

will serve as your base.) Then grab

your distressing ink and ink the edges.

Step 2: Using your pencil (eraser end), grab one

of your scrunched circles and place the pencil

in the center of the circle and wrap the circle around

it.

Step 3: Place a glue dot at the bottom of the circle

as it’s still wrapped around the pencil.

Step 4: Then begin placing each circle on the your

sixth circle which is your base, glue dot side down

so it adheres onto the base. I usually begin in the

center of the circle and then begin filling in the circle

so it’s even and starts to form the petals for my flower.

Here’s what it should look like once you’ve filled

it in with all your distressed circles.

Step 6: I take sometime to fluff and work the circles

so it makes the flower fuller.

And Voila, here’s your finished product.

Step 7: You want to take it a step further?

Push down your circles to flatten them from the

center.

Step 8: Then cutting another smaller circle, use that as

the middle base and adhere on top of the flattened

circles.

Step 9: Top it off with a fun brad or button.

And there you go, a fun 3 dimensional flower sure to

add some scrap flare to your paper crafting projects.

Here’s a few pictures of examples that I created

using my Simple Scrunch Flower.

A place card.

A simple card to say “thank you”.

Adding some flair to ribbon to make a stunning

“napkin holder”.

Inviting friends over for tea? Here’s a “small” way

to make a “Big” impression!

Hope you enjoyed this tutorial! Have fun creating!

Before After

I unscrewed the white face plate from the guitar and then traced it onto thin chipboard. I then used patterned paper, card stock, ribbon, and rub-on’s trimmed to fit and covered in modge podge. I let it dry then screwed it in place, I kept the original face plate so I could re-attach at any time or use it again to use as a template.

Thanks for stopping by Homeketeers we hope you enjoy all we have to offer.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE to alter everyday items and I like anything stationery related so it came naturally to me to alter a set of mini composition books that I recently bought from the dollar store. I had originally planned to use one for taking notes at my new job at a veterinary clinic but after decorating them I’m not sure if I’ll use them for that purpose (oh no I see another shopping trip in my future LOL)

I’d love to see your notebook/note pads that you have made or altered, please share a picture of your project for a chance to win a little goody bag. You have two weeks to get your pictures linked via inlinkz for your chance to enter.

Other examples are sticky note holders, note pad holders, I’ll even accept memo boards etc, anything altered and note related.

Here’s a few pictures of the three books I made.

Did you know that April is “ National Card and letter writing month”? I enjoy learning about these kinds of holidays only because it encourages me to do something out of the ordinary, something I normally wouldn’t do. In this day in age of high technology, we’ve become accustomed to easier ways of communication like emailing or texting. But why not send a card? I know, I know, sometimes it’s just not that convenient and let’s be honest sending a text or email is easier and it’s free right? However, I do know that when I get something in the mail it just makes my day. How about we do that for someone else?

The past few days it’s been rainy here in SoCal. Which has given me sometime to get a little creative. With it being National card and writing month, I was motivated to send some cards to family.

Here’s a couple that I created…

Thanks for stopping by Homeketeers. I hope you find a little motivation and inspiration to share a card with a loved one. It’ll make their day.

Just a few months to go, and as usual, I seem to be leaving things to the last minute. However, we have been getting little things here and there and we have quite the wardrobe already for our little girl! But when I walk into her room, it doesn’t resemble a nursery at all. There is nothing on the walls yet, and no furniture. Time to start decorating! I came across this adorable etsy shop: DesignsByMaya with a huge assortment of fabulous artwork for nursery walls. Now I’m stumped trying to decide which ones I want to get for our nursery. I really want all of them!

Be sure to check out all her other adorable prints; there are so many to choose from!

The nursery is only part of getting ready for the baby. There are so many little things we are told we “need” but how much of that do we really need? I don’t want to go overboard and be stuck with a lot of stuff we never use, but I want to make sure we have what we need so we don’t have to make any last minute runs to the store the first week we have her home with us.

Obviously the basics: carseat, crib or bassinet (we’ll be using the Fisher Price Rock n’Play), onesies, diapers, receiving blankets, etc.

I’ve been told that having extra large receiving blankets for swaddling are a must have. I came across some fabulous ones in this etsy shop: lilpeeperkeepers

Tons to choose from in this cute shop! I love all the beautiful colors she has to choose from too!

If you’re planning to breastfeed, then there are going to be several must have items as well: a nursing cover, possibly a good pump, a pillow like a boppy, and some nursing pads. These may very likely come in handy well before the baby is even born, so stock up now! I want to get reusable ones, and I found some great ones in this etsy shop: GrandmaJcollection

She’s got lots of other awesome baby essentials in her shop so you’ll have fun shopping around in there!

Here are some other great products that are on my must-have list:

I love this reusable storage bag – it can hold pacifiers, snacks, you name it! For all of you having a little boy, this one comes with “caution caps” too – great idea! Visit this great shop: TheClubHouse to see tons of other fabulous baby products in all kinds of cute fabrics!

Burp cloths!! A total must have and look how cute this one is: peeptree. You’ll want to visit this great shop to see all the other beautiful hand made items that are for sale there.

Another must have for sure! Look at this awesome baby bath towel snuggler from Chattamamacrafts. I just love the concept of this towel – you wear it around your neck to keep you dry while you bath baby, then you scoop baby up and pull them to you to snuggle them into the towel.

Every baby needs a sweet hand crocheted baby blanket. I love this one from meshell609. This blanket also comes in pink or blue, and she has an assortment of other hand crocheted baby items for sale as well.

May Day will be here in 3 weeks and it is time to start thinking about putting together some cute May Day Baskets! Many people don’t know the history of May Day, so before I begin showing you some truly inspiring May Day Baskets, let’s go over what May Day is. According to Wikipedia: ‘May Day marks the end of the unfarmable winter half of the year in the Northern hemisphere, and it has traditionally been an occasion for popular and often raucous celebrations.” – - I think this states it best, it is the celebration of the beginning of the growing season, thus why May Day Baskets are full of beautiful flowers!

If you and your children make May Day Baskets this year, please share your photos with us, as we would love to see them!

*note – traditional May Day Baskets are made out of paper cones… super easy and so much fun for you to do with your kids. Why not start a new tradition this year, and make a bunch for the neighbors and early in the morning on May 1st, you and the kids hang the beautiful surprises on each of their doors?
